Reviews of these 5 books - the Playing the Church Organ Series

As an organist with no formal training, your books have been the teacher I’ve needed. They’re very clear and I’m slowly working my way through them. They are, in fact, giving me more confidence in my playing. Thanks. B.M.

I have been using these guides for years with my clients. I find them easy to use, understand, and most importantly, a through guide to using MIDI with the Rodgers Organs. These guides have enhanced the worship of countless churches through there comprehensive step-by-step approach. They make MIDI easy to use. Buy them now! R.M.

Thank you so much. Your books are wonderful. I would not be able to enjoy our new organ to the depth that these books have made possible.

If you are a pianist pressed into service on a church organ, this website is a godsend. I think it would also be useful for someone with limited experience who is looking for repertoire.
Church organists may also wish to know of it because it could be a great way to train up a keyboardist to substitute at the organ should one need to be away.

I really like the book. It's very helpful!

Yes, we did receive one of the books. I placed it on the C330 in the showroom.  ONE customer went to the organ, and played the pieces in the book.

She called me back and placed an order for ...... a Rodgers 558. The book did it that's all I can say.     Oh yes ... I did say from across the showroom, " you sound beautiful" - I am quite positive it was the comment along with the book that took her heart.

Anyhow, thanks for the effort with your publication. It should be a staple with every organ purchase.

Thanks again for your work on Playing the Church Organ. What a wonderful series for those of us fortunate enough to have a 500 Series instrument. Even as my grandchildren and great-grandchildren play on the instrument, it sounds great. You're making it much more of a joy to slowly come to know this marvelous organ.

What’s this all about?

Playing the Church Organ is all about giving the organist an organ that is ready to play, right out of the box and then working to lead the organist through using everything that lies beyond these ten simple pistons.

The first ten pistons on every organ should be set for playing the church service. But that’s rare, even on new organs right out of factories. Pistons should be set for the church organist. ready to play church services

.

An organ committee really wants to hear is the ability of the organ to play hymns and inspire great hymn singing; to play solo melodies with soft accompaniment and have a trumpet that will serve to play God of Our Fathers and the wedding trumpet tunes.

That's exactly what Playing the Church Organ is all about. Giving the organist an organ that is ready to play, right out of the box and then leading the organist through using everything that lies beyond these ten simple pistons.
